Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) is a regional nonprofit that works to accelerate building energy efficiency, electrification, and grid-flexibility across Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states as a core strategy to reduce climate pollution and build an affordable, sustainable, and resilient energy future. NEEP focuses on the components key to rapid, equitable decarbonization of the regional buildings sector - strong policies and regulations to address building emissions, market transformation for electric building technologies, community-led solutions, a diverse and experienced workforce, and replicable program and business models for low-carbon retrofits. NEEP supports collaboration among government, industry, community groups, academia, and advocates to drive long-term regional change.

The Senior Associate, Codes and Standards is responsible for keeping up to date with the latest developments in building energy code development across our region and tracking relevant programs, technologies, policies, and market developments. If you possess a knack for both independent work and team coordination, you might be just who we're looking for. A day in the life of this role

In this role, you'll promote energy efficiency by working with building energy codes, building performance standards, and appliance standards.

Research, Analysis, and Report Development

· You'll conduct research, data collection, and analysis to support strategy development. You'll work with other team members in the development of written resources. You'll assist in managing existing NEEP tools, making improvements to them, as well as contributing to the development of new tools and resources.

· You'll assist in the preparation and editing of regular blogs and other NEEP web-based content.

· You'll prepare quarterly and annual progress reports and provide information as needed for internal and external communications.

Coordination

· Externally, you'll coordinate NEEP's project activities with other relevant national and regional efforts, including planning and participation in selected conferences and workshops. Internally, you'll coordinate project activities and materials with other NEEP teams and projects to advance energy efficiency.

Outreach and Facilitation

· You'll respond to requests for technical assistance

· You'll engage with stakeholders with outreach methods that are appropriate to community needs and to ensure that additional voices are heard

What we need from you

· Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy policy, building technology, planning, environmental science, architecture, or related field. Comparable work experience may be in lieu of education requirement.

· Minimum of 2-3 years previous experience within climate action, clean energy, or building science. One year of previous experience with Master's degree will be considered.

· A minimum of 2-3 years previous experience in energy efficiency, clean energy, building decarbonization, or building science. One year of previous experience with Master's degree will be considered.

· Knowledge of industry trends, developments, and key players.

· Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and speak and write about them clearly and concisely

· Attention to detail and accuracy

· Strong verbal, written, technical communication, and presentation skills

· Ability to take direction, work independently, and coordinate with others.

· Ability to execute daily work through a diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice lens

· Plan and manage meetings; develop reports, presentations, and relevant follow up materials

· Familiarity with basic statistics and data analysis a plus; e.g. converting a metric based on categorical data (yes/no) to numerical data

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and internet tools

· ArcGIS proficiency a plus

· Residency within the NEEP region (in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic).
