Description:

This position reports to the Program Coordinator of Building Decarbonization Commercial Properties and Networks and will assist with projects that aims to bolster LMI (Low- to Moderate-Income) and EJA (Environmental Justice Area) community members’ energy equity and participation in sustainability programming that allows them to benefit from offerings within our program.

Eligibility:

  • Currently reside in NYS and be able work in NYS full-time for 12-months
  • Commit to the entire 12-month fellowship and the goal of assisting the employer in advancing climate justice and clean energy priorities for disadvantaged communities.
  • Currently be from a Priority Population as defined on NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Workforce Development Definition page.
  • Be a new hire - not a previous or furloughed employee, contractor, or intern.
  • Note: Under this solicitation, interns participating in NYSERDA’s New York State Clean Energy Internships Program (PON 4000) may be eligible to become a fellow with their current host employer if they have not already been hired as an employee at that organization. These individuals still must qualify as a Priority Population to be eligible to participate in a fellowship.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Building Decarbonization department as a NYSERDA Climate Justice Associate to ensure LMI and EJA communities benefit from our offerings that encompass workforce development, energy efficiency upgrades, thermal energy networks, and more.
  • Perform in-person outreach throughout Westchester County, targeting underserved populations by participating in community events, information sessions, and networking opportunities.
  • Coordinate, support, and participate in Zoom Meetings for outreach events as well as SW staff meetings, as needed
  • Perform research to identify clean energy hiring and training opportunities, community benefits like labor agreements, public trusts, and cooperative ownership models.
  • Perform a key role in event planning and coordination to ensure participation from LMI (Low- to Moderate-Income) and EJA (Environmental Justice Area) community members.
  • Create and proof content, including marketing material, communications, and reports t o support outreach activities and events.
  • Support relationships with channel partners to direct benefits from our programs to underserved community members.
  • Develop an understanding of Sustainable Westchester’s offerings to assist with webinar information sessions, presentations, and calls.
  • Assist with other tasks as requested, including inputting information about contacts and activities in Sustainable Westchester’s CRM.

Salary:

$45,000 annually
